Clark John Bredesen was born August 5, 1970. Growing up in Spokane, Washington, he learned early the value of hard work and public service from his family and community. After graduating from North Central High School, Bredesen attended the Apollo College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration with an emphasis in public service. He earned his juris doctorate degree from the David A. Clark School of Law.
Prior to serving in State Senate, Bredesen was elected to the Washington House of Representatives, and served as a member of the House leadership. He previously worked in the healthcare field, and was in private law practice, including serving on the legal aide panel representing low-income clients. In the Washington House of Representatives, Bredesen was instrumental in passing on affordable healthcare, education, and agriculture legislation. He also fought to preserve funding for Medicaid and historic preservation tax.
Bredesen and his wife Hillary, a judge in the Spokane Municipal Court, have two sons, Gable (2) and Gisele (1).
