As a proud Son of the Bluegrass and honorary Kentucky Colonel, I am happy to have worked with the Commonwealth of Kentucky as her Senator. I am a man dedicated to my State and Country.
In Washington, I hope to create a sense of stability and respect among my colleagues as I attempt to forge a new era in politics that allows my State and my Country to benefit.
Thank y'all.

Senator Zalla gave a speech this morning explaining why he has not yet nominated a Democratic Presidential Candidate.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, thank y'all for coming to this here today. A lot has happened in recent weeks and, if I'm not mistaken, the Democratic Primaries have heated up."
"Now, I have decided not to run for President because I feel that my entry would only create more issues for the Democratic Party and I feel that my expertise is better used in the Senator for now. I realize that a small number of Southern Democrats had urged me to run for President, but I do not feel that this is the right thing for me to do now."
"I have yet to endorse a set candidate for President and I will be selecting from within my own party. I have been contacted by two of the campaigns and asked for assistance, but for now I will just remain on the sidelines. My focus now is securing my work within the Senate and encouraging greater cooperation between Democrats and Republicans."
"Now, as I'm sure y'all are dying to know, I will eventually nominate a candidate. Senators Clark, Lillidge, and Burton are good men and each would be an excellent President; but for now I will keep my opinion quiet until the time is right."
"Thank y'all. God bless ya."

Senator Zalla comments on PPT Loss in Democratic controlled Congress.
Ladies and Gentlemen, yes, thank-you for coming. Now, this is a very upsetting day for my office as it now appears that several Democratic senators either refused to vote for me or, in Senator Bill Rizal's case, voted for my opponent.
Now, I do not blame Senator Rizal, he's a good man and I'm sure he has his reasons and I feel that Senator Rockwood will do an excellent job as PPT of the Senate.
What concerns me, and several of my constituents, is the fact that the more liberal, northern elements of the party may be harboring a grudge against the more conservative, southern element of the Party. Don't get me wrong, this is very, very embarrassing and I think this will send a very, very bad message to southern Democrats.
The only thing that I can consider for this failure is a lack of communication by myself and the other senators over possible grievances, if any. I would like y'all to know that I fully intend to continue my presence in the Senate, but this is a crushing day for the Democratic Party, especially when you look at the fact that we control the Congress!
I would like to close by telling the Democrats out there right now that I apologize for our Party's failure to capitalize on this vote and would like to tell y'all that I promise we can do a good job in the upcoming elections.
Thank-ya. God bless ya.

Senator Zalla voices opposition to the Protect ANWR Bill
The Press Office of Senator Geoff Zalla (D) of Kentucky would like to announce that Senator Zalla, Chairman of the ESAEA Committee, has recently voiced his opposition to the proposed Protect ANWR Bill. The Senator has cited that the bill, "wastes tax payer dollars on something that's already enacted, places too much tax payer dollars in a program of this magnitude, and is not worth the US Government's investment."
The Senator has continued to uphold his views on the Bill and the ESAEA Committee will be voting on whether or not to endorse the bill here soon. Senator Zalla has vowed to fight against the Bill at all costs and may consider further options if it reaches the Senate.
Thank-y'all and God Bless.

Senator Zalla Comments on Energy, Science, Agriculture, and Evironmental Affairs Committee Vote
Ladies and Gentlemen, thank-you for coming. Today the ESAEA Committee did an official vote on the Protect ANWR Bill. Due to opposition from both parties the Bill failed to pass our committee vote and it will not go down to Congress.
At this time I would like to thank those senators who participated in the ESAEA Committee debate and vote and I'd also like to say that this Bill, at heart, was not a bad idea, but I do not see how this particular Bill would have benefited the American public, so I announced my opposition.
Thank-ya. God Bless ya.

Senator Zalla answers questions over 2011 Gubernatorial run rumors.
Zalla: Thank-y'all for coming today, I'm sure y'all have heard plenty of rumors that I may be running for Governor of my home state, Kentucky, in 2011.
Reporter: Yes, Senator Zalla, is it true that you will be seeking the nomination from the Democratic Party for Governor of Kentucky?
Zalla: (sighs) At this particular point, I am interested in running for Governor of Kentucky, however, I am not sure, at this particular point, that I will be running for Governor in 2011.
Reporter: So, you are running.
Zalla: At this point its still really early to announce such a campaign, but I am interested and, should the opportunity come up, then I will consider running for that office. However, I can't make any promises at this point, after all we just had elections in Kentucky in 2007, just last year.
Reporter: So, we can expect to see you on the ballot?
Zalla: Maybe, maybe not...thank-y'all, I'll talk more about this at a later date. Thank-ya and God Bless ya.
