1. What do you believe is the best strategy to promote economic growth?
One of my longest held principals is that people are better managers of their own money than the government is, and that, therefore, the best strategy to promote economic growth is to put as much money as possible in the hands of the American people, rather than in those of the American government. I support the FairTax plan, as I believe it provides enough revenue to keep the government operating, while still keeping most money in the hands of the citizens. It is also more fair, as it does not tax a person's paycheck, and instead only what they buy.
2. Will you cut taxes, and what if any taxes will you cut?
Yes I will. One of my main goals, even if the FairTax plan is defeated, is to lower taxes across the board, especially focusing on repealing the Estate Tax, which I believe unfairly taxes all who are subject to it, but especially small business owners who want to keep their business in the family over a number of generations.
3. Will you agree to veto any bill that arrives on your desk with earmarks in it?
I believe that earmarks are one of the main reason for wasteful government spending, which must be reduced. Although some can be useful, most should not be receiving federal funding, especially in bills which are hardly related to the earmark at all. Therefore, I give my word that I will oppose and veto any bill which arrives at my desk with earmarks on it.
4. Where, if anywhere, will you cut spending to reduce the size of government?
I believe there are many places where spending can be cut, but most specifically in the area of healthcare. Currently, Medicaid and Medicare, although useful programs, are throwing billions of dollars out the door every year. My proposed healthcare plan, which can be read up on in my candidate registration, will be equally effective, while saving those billions, and more.
