Cleveland, OH at Gund Arena Cleveland, OH *ApplauseThank you Cleveland! Thank you! Ladies and Gentlemen, It is time! It is time for a new administration in Washington! An administration that listens to the American people. An administration that works for the American people. An administration that shoots straight with the American people. It is time! It is time to get our economy back on track! We need trade agreements that are fair for the average working American. We need programs aimed at retraining Americans who have already lost their jobs. We need to create ‘green’ jobs in America. As President, I will appoint a bipartisan committee to review each trade agreement that America has entered into with the direction to draw up new trade agreements that stop outsourcing, create an even playing field and protect American jobs. As President, I will propose and support any legislation that creates opportunities for out-of-work Americans to get retrained with skills that will enable them to pursue high-paying jobs that will be secure in America. As President, I will create a grant program for universities and colleges across America that offer degree programs that promote ‘green’ research and jobs.It is time! It is time to end our oil dependency and develop energy with renewable resources! We need research programs that will focus on how to improve technology on renewable energy sources that we already have developed such as solar and wind power. We need to invest in ethanol production. We need to invest in a green infrastructure. As your President, I will provide money from the budgets of the Department of Energy and the Department of Education that will fund research programs to be carried out by private business and places of higher education to improve current green technology. As President, I will propose and support tax cuts for companies that produce ethanol for flex-fuel vehicles. As President, I will invest in the green infrastructure of the United States by providing tax incentives to companies to add ethanol pumps at gas stations throughout our country. It is time! Ladies and Gentlemen, together we can build an economy that protects American jobs. Together, we can begin the long road of moving this country away from our oil dependency. It is time to build a New American Century and together we will get the job done.
